Oluwafemi Adebayo

Hometown: I call different places home because of what they mean to me and the impact they have had in my life. The top on the list is Omu-Aran, my place of birth and beloved hometown. Lagos, the erstwhile capital of Nigeria where I spent most of my childhood. Ibadan, the brown roofed city I went to school for my tertiary education. Shelleng, a town in Adamawa, one of the northeastern states in Nigeria where I did my mandatory one-year National Youth Service. These places will always be home to me because home is where the heart is.

Research Interests: Plant-microbe interactions, Rhizosphere resilience, Restoration ecology, Plant systematics, Biodiversity conservation.

Projects: I am currently synthesizing ideas on maternal effect and the role of soil microbes in shaping plant responses to environmental stressors like drought in rapid cycling Brassica rapa.

Past experiences: I had both my master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Botany from The University of Ibadan, Nigeria. I have worked in the community engagement and youth development space for some years prior to graduate school at LSU.
